Workshop 3 "How can SHM be applied in a quality-assured and legally compliant manner? "

Friday, 28 March 2025
parallel to the lecture programme

Many SHM applications developed at universities and research institutes have not yet left the lab-scale. Possible reasons are

  • real components and structures are often more complex than expected,
  • the POD of the SHM system is usually difficult to define,
  • the reliability of SHM systems is often unsatisfactory and
  • the transition from periodic inspection to permanent monitoring with automated SHM systems suffers from existing safety guidelines and inspection regulations.

The workshop addresses these issues and aims to identify solutions that facilitate the use of SHM in practice. The solutions will be developed using examples of real applications, e.g. from the renewable energy sector.
